Learning from the Righteous organised the first UK screening of the film ‘Who Will Write Our History’ in the Manchester Central Library as part of the HMD 2019 commemorations. The film is about a secret band of journalists, scholars and community leaders in The Warsaw Ghetto, led by historian Emanuel Ringelblum and known by the code name Oyneg Shabos.
This clandestine group vowed to defeat Nazi lies and propaganda not with guns or fists but with pen and paper. They defied their murderous enemy with the ultimate weapon – the truth – and risked everything so that their archive would survive the war, even if they did not.
Around 200 people came to watch this exclusive screening of the most significant Holocaust film since Claude Lanzman’s Shoah.
