An event that was jointly hosted by Robert Halfon MP, Learning from the Righteous and the Polish Embassy to mark the annual European Day of the Righteous.
IMPACT LftR led this country’s recognition of this day of remembrance; the event that the charity held at the Polish Embassy in 2016 was the first official UK commemoration. It was a huge success and was repeated in 2017. The 2018 event was held at the Houses of Parliament and was attended by 250 dignitaries, including many MPs, representatives of the Jewish community and the many figures who work in Holocaust Education. The event featured the Sendler Exhibition and was supplemented by speeches from Robert Halfon MP, the historian Antony Polonsky, Lili Pohlmann and the charity’s Chief Education Consultant. The event also featured a performance of the charity’s song “The Exceptional Few”, performed by the Akiva School Choir.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive.
“A perfect mix of serious historical context and joyous child-centred celebration!” Gaby Glassman of Bnai Brith.
“Thank you for putting on such a wonderful event – its meaning will stay with the children forever!” Parent of a participating child.
“Learning from the Righteous have a very important role to play in modern Holocaust Education. I applaud their efforts in engaging children so appropriately at such a young age. May they grow from strength to strength!” Antony Polonsky, historian.
