Learning from the Righteous regularly leads teacher training sessions to provide the knowledge to teach about specific acts of rescue in the proper historical context, as well as help teachers acquire the confidence to address such a sensitive topic. Over 300 teachers have benefited from these workshops. This picture was taken February at the Putney Polish Saturday School.
MARCH OF THE LIVING
Learning from the Righteous hosted delegates from the UK March of the Living as part of their Warsaw tour. 30 participants came to the Warsaw Zoo to have a special midnight tour of the Zabinski Villa.
WORKING WITH THE NNLS JEWISH STUDIES CLASSES
We ran workshops for the children at New North London Synagogue culminating in June where they presented what they had written to an invited audience of parents and synagogue members. We were honoured to be joined by Holocaust survivor Rudi Oppenheimer, the grandfather of one of the participants, who generously shared his experiences.
WORKSHOPS IN THE IRENA SENDLER SCHOOL IN WARSAW
Learning from the Righteous has forged a close working relationship with educators in Poland. On June 14, we worked with students and teachers throughout the day. According to the school’s website “Our students have a meeting with Antony Lishak. Mr Lishak is a writer and a former teacher. He spread knowledge about Righteous Among the Nations and came to us to talk about universal values, behaviour of an individual in a crowd and the courage to make difficult choices.”
Gariwo is the Italian based organisation that coordinates The European Day of the Righteous. In July, Learning from the Righteous met with their directors in Milan where a formal partnership was agreed.
Learning from the Righteous led a series of workshops in Szkoła Podstawowa Nr 356, the largest school in Warsaw. The children heard about stories of rescue and discussed the notion of whether we each have an obligation to help a fellow human in need.
TRAINING FOR TEACHERS
Learning from the Righteous led a training session for teachers at the NNLS Jewish Studies classes, where plans for the Year of Irena Sendler workshops were discussed.

THE IRENA SENDLER STUDY TOUR FOR JEWISH TEACHERS AND HOLOCAUST EDUCATORS
In late October we led a very successful intensive 4 day study tour of Warsaw for teachers and educators based in the United Kingdom. The first-hand knowledge they gained will enable them to use our Irena Sendler teaching resources more effectively throughout 2018.
MITZVAH DAY 2017
On 19th November we will be bringing children from many faiths and cultural backgrounds together to learn about the remarkable compassion and humanity of Irena Sendler and to celebrate our inter-dependence. Every child will take away a tree of remembrance dedicated to her and l will be tasked with sharing her story with at least one other person.
THE CHANUKAH RIGHTEOUS PROJECT
Throughout Chanukah, we will be sharing the inspirational stories of eight “Righteous Among the Nations”. Each night families will be encouraged to share and talk about these acts of rescue and humanity that stand as shining examples of humanity.
